Our Roots

Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention

This is a phrase my father would often say and this is exactly how rod building started for us. Running a charter boat and commercial fishing operation our gear took a beating year after year in the saltwater of the North Atlantic. Learning to repair and build our own rods not only got us back on the water quicker, it allowed us to experiment and try new things to better handle the fish and the conditions we were faced with.

Looking for a way to give back to the veteran community, in 2016 we launched Semper Fly Rods committed to donating 10% of all rod sales to support the Semper Fi & America’s Fund. Continuing with the skills my father taught me years ago, we continue to expand our knowledge and practical application to the rods we build in the most challenging conditions. Our name as you can imagine is a play on my service in the Marine Corps tied with my passion for fly fishing.

in addition to supporting Veterans, Semper Fly Rods is committed to supporting many other non profit organizations locally and nationally to raise awareness to conservation, support youth engagement in the outdoors and preserve our precious waterways.

When not behind a bench building rods or tying flies you will find me spending time with my family, chasing fish with my daughter & dog, or dreaming about catching 7lb smallmouth.
